Pediatric Dental Exam and Cleaning in Glendale, AZ

It’s essential for your child to have a pediatric dental exam and cleaning on a regular basis. While there, the pediatric dentist can spot signs of tooth decay before your child sustains any damage. If your looking for a Pediatric Dental Exam and Cleaning in Glendale AZ, then Paseo Ranch Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics is just the right spot for your kid/s to have the best care possible, all in a kid and family-friendly environment.

At Paseo Ranch Pediatrics, we are well-trained in ways to make the visit as seamless as possible, and quite possibly even fun!  We know that a dental visit can be scary for your little ones, especially for the first time, and we are caring and gentle with them at all times.  We even have stickers and fun stuff!

If it’s your kid’s first visit, the dentist will take x-rays, clean and polish the teeth, and finish up with a fluoride treatment. He or she will discuss the results of the x-rays with you, and together you can map out a progress-plan for your child’s pediatric dental care. We recommend routine dental exams between two-four times a year.

What to Expect From Dental Cleanings

At Paseo Ranch Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics we offer the following types of children’s dental cleaning procedures:

  • Prophylaxis dental cleaning
  • Scaling and root planing
  • Periodontal maintenance cleaning
cleaning and exams

Prophylaxis Dental Cleaning

A prophylaxis dental cleaning is the regular cleaning that most of our young patients get when they visit. This procedure involves doing a thorough examination before the cleaning begins to make sure the teeth are healthy. Then, Dr. Mathew Jensen or another of our highly qualified pediatric dentists will carefully remove the plaque and tartar from the teeth and remove the stains.

Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)

Deep cleanings are often necessary when one of our experienced pediatric dentists finds evidence of gum disease. If your gums start bleeding while brushing or flossing, this indicates evidence of plague, or that your gums are beginning to recede from your teeth. The deep cleaning will remove tartar from your child’s teeth before the gum disease gets worse, and their teeth begin to loosen, or the jawbone is affected.

Periodontal Maintenance Cleaning

A periodontal maintenance cleaning is for children with evidence of gum disease who have already gone through scaling and root planing. It’s similar to a regular pediatric dental cleaning, but one that is designed to get rid of the bacteria that causes gum disease. This follow-up cleaning takes place every three to four months to ensure the periodontitis is in check.

If your child has never had a pediatric dental cleaning or it’s been a while since their last pediatric dental cleaning, then they may need this procedure to get rid of the plaque and tartar on their teeth.
